What homologation means at GetCars

A US vehicle must meet EU rules for lights, fog lamp, VIN on the frame, and more before it can pass the technical inspection (STK) and register in the Czech Republic or Slovakia. GetCars can do the modifications, light appointments, STK, and registration. Page: Homologation.

We handle homologation:

  • after import of a car bought through us (in the case you opt in to registration),
  • or via the form when you already have the car / it is coming another way.

Form step by step

  1. Choose the scope: full homologation (lights, STK, registration), or wheels and accessories only without lights work or STK.
  2. Vehicle name, year, type (passenger, EV, truck, motorcycle, machinery, other), VIN.
  3. For full homologation the front of the Title and a photo of the manufacturer plate. For equipment registration both sides of the technical passport (JPEG, PNG or PDF, max. 50 MB).
  4. For full homologation: amber indicators? Rear fog lamp? Without them we offer a lights conversion date first, not STK.
  5. Tow hitch — information for us only; it does not change appointment order (full homologation only).
  6. Is the VIN stamped on the frame/body? If not, the STK slot includes a stop at GetCars an hour earlier to stamp it (full homologation only).
  7. Extra equipment — an add-on for full homologation; for equipment-only it is the job (at least one item; rim and tire sizes for wheels).
  8. Submit.

To send the form you must be signed in with complete billing. You can fill it in first and add files after sign-in.

After you submit

For full homologation we come back with proposed dates (lights and/or STK). For equipment registration GetCars records the items at the registry — no lights or STK appointment. A homologation case appears in the dashboard next to imports. There you see status, checklist, and documents.

A car with red indicators or without the required fog lamp does not go to STK. Do not book STK elsewhere “just in case” — you may burn the slot.

Price and timing

Price depends on lights, VIN, vehicle type, and equipment recording. It is not the same as the import calculator. Dates depend on workshop and STK capacity — in season expect a wait.

Motorcycles, trucks, machinery

We do those too, but the modification list differs. Pick the right type on the form and note what is already done.
