What a deposit is (and is not)
A deposit is a security payment that turns on bidding power at GetCars. It is not the vehicle price, duty, VAT, or shipping. You cannot pay for a car or import invoices with it.
When we credit the payment, Deposits shows an active plan: how many USD you may have spread across bids, and how many vehicles at once.
Refunds are on request only, under the contract. While you have live bids or a vehicle in process, we usually do not refund until that is settled.
Before you start
- You are signed in — account.
- Billing is complete — profile.
- You read the intermediation contract. The contract is formed when the deposit is credited to GetCars, not merely by clicking.
Without billing we cannot generate the contract. The site will send you to your profile.
Choosing a plan
Plans differ by deposit amount, bidding power (USD), and how many concurrent bids you may hold. The plan card lists what you get. Levels typically run from a starter plan to higher limits for frequent buyers.
Switching rules:
- you cannot pick the same plan that is already active,
- you cannot move down while you hold a higher deposit (or a payment for a higher plan is pending),
- you cannot switch to another plan at the same level while a deposit or pending payment exists,
- only one pending payment at a time.
Need more bidding power? Choose Increase (top-up / upgrade). You pay the difference, not the full price again.
Contract and payment
- Select a plan.
- The import intermediation contract opens with your details and the deposit amount. Download the PDF if you want an archive copy.
- Tick consent and continue to payment.
- Send a bank transfer using the instructions. We currently take deposits primarily in CZK.
- Use the exact variable symbol (and other fields) from the screen. You can scan the QR code in your banking app.
A transfer usually takes 24–48 hours. Instant payments are often faster. When we match the payment, the plan becomes Active and you can bid.
A pending request appears in deposit history as Waiting for payment. You can return to the payment details. If nothing shows after 48 hours, write to us and attach the bank confirmation — contact.
Bidding power and limits
Each plan has:
- bidding power — the sum of your live bids in USD must stay under this cap,
- max concurrent auctions — how many vehicles you may have running at once,
- sometimes a cap per vehicle.
Counts include not only active prebids but also requests waiting for GetCars approval and If Bid. When we reject a request or an auction ends, the slot frees up.
The bid dialog shows how much power and how many slots remain after you confirm.
Deposit refund
Under Refund you request a return of the active plan. The processing time (typically in weeks) is shown in the form. Terms are in the contract. If you have open bids, settle those with us first.
FAQ
Can I use the deposit toward a car I won?

I paid, but the plan is still inactive.
Banks take 24–48 hours. After 48 hours write to us with the confirmation and variable symbol.
Can I hold two deposits?
No. One active plan. A higher level is a top-up.
When the deposit is active, go to auctions.
