Carfax report

What a Carfax report is

A Carfax report is a PDF of vehicle history by VIN (prior registrations, accidents, service records, if Carfax has them). You buy it from GetCars, not on Carfax’s own site.

The report is not a warranty of condition and does not replace an inspection. It is a decision aid before you bid. The GetCars badge on a lot is separate — recommendations.

Carfax does not need a deposit. It does not unlock bidding power and cannot be paid from the deposit. Pay by card or from your balance.

Where to buy it

1. On an auction lot, stock vehicle, or dealer vehicle — the Carfax card, if we know the VIN.
2. In the customer zone → Carfax — enter a VIN yourself.

You cannot buy without signing in. Without complete billing we will not start the order — we need details for the tax document.

If the vehicle has no VIN, the card asks you to write to us so we can look it up.

Price and tax document

You see the price including VAT (or excluding VAT for an EU company with a VAT ID — reverse charge) before you pay. It is not a line in the import calculator.

After we deliver the report we issue an invoice. You find it on the order and under invoices. A balance top-up has no invoice; tax sits on this report invoice.

Pay by card

1. Tick consent to start performance (digital content — after the file is delivered you cannot withdraw from the report contract).
2. Choose Pay by card.
3. On the payment page you enter the card at Stripe. The card number does not come to us.
4. We first authorise the amount. We capture it only when we actually have the report. If Carfax has nothing for the VIN or the download fails, we cancel the authorisation and you are not charged.

You do not have to wait on the page. When the PDF is ready you get an email. Download from Carfax in the zone.

The report usually arrives within minutes. If we already have it in the database, you get it right after payment.

Pay from balance

If your balance covers the price, the card offers Pay from balance. We deduct the full amount including VAT; Stripe does not open. The invoice is issued the same way. If we cannot get the report, we credit the amount back.

After purchase

In the zone you see statuses: waiting for payment → preparing → ready to download. Download the PDF on the order. You keep exactly the file you bought.

You do not pay again for the same VIN while we still hold that report on your account. A later newer version is a new order.

FAQ

Carfax has no record for the VIN.
We do not charge you. You cannot buy that VIN again until a record appears.

I cancelled the payment.
Nothing was charged. Start the order again.
